Arctic Circle, 66°, 33', Canada
August 26, 2001

At 3:07 p.m. Pacific Time today, I crossed the Arctic Circle. This has been a trip two years in the making, and every bit as amazing as I'd hoped it would be.

Within the hour I'll be crossing from the Yukon into the Northwest Territories. I'll find a campground somewhere north of here on the Dempster Highway to stay for the night.

I have no idea of what to expect for the landscape. Here it's rolling high hills and tundra, filled with all sorts of edible berry plants. And bears. I think I'll skip the cranberries and keep going.

Northward I'm bound.
